Stress is on the increase.  From anxiety, depression, IBS, stomach ulcers, strokes, heart attacks, to cancers – stress is often lurking about.  More and more clients I see are aware of the stress and anxiety in their life and find it hard to relax, impacting their happiness, sleep and quality of life.
Doctors estimate that as many as 80% of patients have ‘psychosomatic symptoms’. This means that 8 out of ten people attending the doctors have a problem that is more psychological not medical, such as stress. A recent study has also shown that doctors are too quickly prescribing medication for stress related illnesses when other forms of treatment can be more effective.  If your problem is mostly in your head – that is where you need to understand it and to sort it out.
Stress involves a lethal cocktail of chemicals in our body and it is absolutely vital that we all find a way to relieve this pressure.  Some relax energetically through sport, whether playing or watching; others find relaxation in a more gentle way, by walking, reading or fishing; some people meditate, some pray.   Some people can only get relief through drink, or drugs (whether prescription and recreational).
